ago I wrote a letter
to the Soviet Union
stating that in my
belief
Dorie Miller, hero of
the Great Patriotic War, World War II, Pearl
Harbor
had won both the Navy
Cross and the Medal of Honor
I was wrong
Though he deserved the
Medal of Honor
He did not
receive it
the heroes of battles
and wars are not very big
they are small men with
smaller dreams
when will America realize
it
Pearl Harbor
will be remembered
for military
strategy
for the infamous
treachery of the Japanese
for the evil of
Hitlerite fascism
for the deaths of
sailors and civilians who died in the attack
for the sinking
of a portion of the U.S. Pacific Fleet
We, as Americans, should remember
this battle
As the day the cook came
Up from the kitchen
To give the help
To hold the enemy
back
&
hold
a nation together
