The Alligator

Alligator skin
the irony of it
the back of my hand
looks like a lizard
large rough scales
the dryness
coupled with age
the veins have become
large and pronounced
the blueness of the veins
inching through the
dark brown of the
skin
speaks of
miscegenation or
just the myth
of color
of race
vaseline
will not work back
the problem
i wash my hands diligently.
to stop the spread of
Covid-19
and must ignore the
ugliness
